December 18, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Ministerial Ordinance pertaining to Partial Revisions to Rules for Reporting on Telecommunications Business

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) drafted a ministerial ordinance pertaining to partial revisions to the rules for reporting on the telecommunications business.
Accordingly, MIC will make an appeal for opinions on the draft ministerial ordinance from Saturday, December 19, through Friday, January 22, 2021.

1. Background and outline of the revisions

The 2020 Report on Verification of Competition Rules was released on October 27, 2020, which states that it is necessary to grasp each reception desk’s usage status of the procedure for the handling charges of mobile number portability (MNP). With this in mind, MIC has decided to make partial revisions to the Rules for Reporting on Telecommunications Business (Ministerial Ordinance of MPT No. 46 of 1988), i.e., the partial revision of the form used to report on the use of telecommunications numbers (related to Article 8).

2. Submission period

From Saturday, December 19, 2020, and no later than Friday, January 22, 2021 (Opinions by mail reaching after the deadline date will be accepted if postmarked on or before the deadline date.)

3. Future plans

MIC will promptly revise the ministerial ordinance based on the result of opinions submitted.
