December 21, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Official Directive for Partial Revision of Examination Standards related to the Radio Act
Institutional development for fixed stations operating in 4FSK mode
The Ministry of International Affairs and Communications (MIC) drafted an official directive for the partial revision of the examination standards (Official Directive of MIC No. 67 of January 6, 2001)related to the Radio Act to make institutional development for fixed stations operating in 4FSK mode.
In this connection, the MIC will make an appeal for opinions on the draft official directive from Tuesday, December 22, 2020, through January 25, 2021.
1. Overview
1. Establishments of standards for fixed stations operating in 4FSK mode
There is an increasing demand for establishing fixed radio stations that operate in 4FSK (narrowband digital) mode for the disaster prevention administrative radio for municipal digital broadcasting (mobile 4FSK system), including relay lines. Accordingly, MIC has drafted the revision to clarify 4FSK (narrowband digital) standards, including those for the quality of 4FSK (narrowband digital) transmission, to operate fixed radio stations.
2. Other institutional development
The draft revision will correct typographical errors (corrected to match the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act (Radio Regulatory Commission Rules No. 14 of 1950)) regarding the movement range of mobile land stations for fire fighting purposes.
