December 22, 2020 Public Appeal for FY2021 R&D Themes under SCOPE

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) hereby announces that it will make a public appeal for new research and development (R&D) themes starting in fiscal 2021 under Strategic Information and Communications R&D Promotion Programme (SCOPE), a project to grant competitive funds for R&D in the field of information and communications technology.

1. Period

From Monday, January 8 through Thursday, February 8, 2021 (no later than 5:00 PM).

2. Open call program themes

The following table lists programs that call for research and development.

  Check the Proposal Guidelines through the corresponding Japanese webpage and create a proposal according to the Proposal Creation Guidelines.

  Proposals should be submitted electronically using the Cross-ministerial R&D Management System (e-Rad). This system can be used from the following URL.

4. Other considerations

The MIC has decided to make this public appeal before the fiscal 2020 budget bill passes the Diet so that this program can be started promptly after the budget bill passes the Diet. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the implementation of the program is subject to change according to the passage of the budget bill.
