December 25, 2020 Publication of MIC’s Policy Menu of Anti-piracy Measures on the Internet

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has compiled a policy menu of MIC’s efforts as part of comprehensive measures against pirated copies on the Internet.

1. Background

The Act on Partial Amendment of the Copyright Act and the Act on Special Exceptions to Registration of Works of Programs (promulgated on June 12, 2020) will come into effect on January 1, 2021, under which the downloading of illegally uploaded copyrighted works (manga, books, etc.) will become illegal.
In response, MIC conducted a questionnaire survey. Simultaneously, as part of comprehensive measures against pirated copies on the Internet, MIC has compiled a policy menu of MIC’s efforts to be implemented in cooperation with related ministries, organizations, and businesses.
