February 7, 2020 Result of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Final Report from Study Group on Platform Services and Release of Finalized Report

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal for opinions from Tuesday, December 24 through Monday, January 20, 2020, on a draft final report from a study group on platform services (Joji Shishido Professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate Schools for Law and Politics).
In this connection, a final report was compiled with consideration of the results of opinions received. Accordingly, MIC has decided to open the same to the public.

In recent years, MIC organized the study group on platform services (Joji Shishido Professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate Schools for Law and Politics) to discuss how to handle user information of platform operators properly. The draft final report of this study group was presented at the 17th meeting (held on Friday, December 20, 2019). As a result of the appeal for opinions until Monday, January 20, 2020, MIC received 25 opinions.
With consideration of these opinions and the results of the discussions at the 18th meeting of the study group (held on Wednesday, February 5, 2020), the study group compiled the final report.
