March 2, 2020 Announcement of Payment Service Providers Participating in FY2020 Unified QR Code, “JPQR,” Promotion Project

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) plans to launch an online application form that will enable JPQR applications from stores nationwide next year. Recently, MIC has announced payment companies which participate in “JPQR” promotion project as of February 28 for fiscal 2020.

MIC, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, has conducted a demonstration project to promote Unified QR Code (JPQR) formulated by Payments Japan Association.
In the next fiscal year, MIC plans to launch an online application form that will enable JPQR applications from stores nationwide. Recently, MIC has made public the following 11 companies that will participate in the fiscal 2020 JPQR Promotion Project as of February 28. MIC is still accepting the participation of cashless payment companies, and the status of participants will be updated as needed.

In the next fiscal year, measures to revitalize consumption will be implemented using the Individual Number Card Point system. By promoting JPQR, MIC is planning to increase stores where the Individual Number Card Point can be used.
