March 9, 2020 Appeal for Proposals for Establishment of Safe, Secure, and Proper Usage Environment of IoT (Establishment of Guidelines to Contribute to Proper Operation and Maintenance of IoT Usage Environment) under FY2020 Budget

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has decided to make an appeal for proposals for a project of the establishment of a safe, secure, and proper usage environment of the IoT (establishment of guidelines to contribute to the proper operation and maintenance of an IoT usage environment) under fiscal 2020 budget along with entities to be entrusted with the project. The project is to improve the literacy of users and ensure their efficient use of radio waves to contribute to the realization of Society 5.0. The project will involve local demonstrations using IoT systems for various applications and environments, and by clarifying the characteristics of radio waves used in IoT systems according to each scene and collecting knowledge on the effective use of radio waves that contributes to proper operation and maintenance of IoT use environment.
MIC will make this appeal before the fiscal 2020 budget bill passes the Diet so that eligible organizations can start the project as soon as possible. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the implementation of the project is subject to change according to the passage of the budget bill.

Consortiums of local governments, private companies, universities, and NPOs working to solve local issues

2. Project

Demonstration project that contributes to the collection of data on appropriate radio wave intensity for IoT systems in various environments, along with the system maintenance methods and costs of IoT systems, as well as the construction of the radio use environment, and the compilation of the data as guidelines in order to ensure the efficient use of radio waves in IoT systems in various environments

2. Application method

1. Submission deadline

No later than noon on Friday, April 10, 2020 (Submission of opinions by mail must also arrive no later than the deadline date).

2. How to submit a proposal

After preparing the proposal in accordance with the implementation guidelines, bring or mail one original to the submission destination specified in the guidelines below.

3. Selection of contractor candidates

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will select candidate contractors based on the results of external evaluation.
Candidate contractors will be decided and announced in June, but the schedule may be changed depending on the status of the external evaluation.
