Expansion of survey on actual radio spectrum usage

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal for opinions from Saturday, January 25 through Tuesday, February 25, 2020, on a draft ministerial ordinance and pertinent conditions on an expansion of a survey on actual radio spectrum usage for the further promotion of the practical radio spectrum usage. As a result, nine opinions were submitted. Accordingly, MIC has decided to open the submitted opinions to the public, along with MIC’s views on the opinions.
With consideration of the result of the appeal for opinions, MIC has today submitted an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council (Chaired by Susumu Yoshida, Specially Appointed Professor, Kyoto University) on the draft ministerial ordinance for a partial revision of the Ministerial Ordinance for Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage. MIC received by return a report from the Radio Regulatory Council stating its approval as inquired.
In response to the results of the appeal for opinions and the report from the Radio Regulatory Council, MIC will make relevant institutional development promptly.

1. Result of appeal for opinions

To further promote the effective use of radio waves, MIC has drafted a ministerial ordinance for a partial revision of the Ministerial Ordinance for Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage, relevant notice, and related conditions. MIC made an appeal for opinions for 32 days, from Saturday, January 25 through Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

2. Report from Radio Regulatory Council

With consideration of the result of the appeal for opinions, MIC has today (Wednesday, March 11) submitted an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council on the draft ministerial ordinance for a partial revision of the Ministerial Ordinance for Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage. MIC received by return a report from the Radio Regulatory Council stating its approval as inquired.

3. Future plans

In response to the results of the appeal for opinions and the report from the Radio Regulatory Council, MIC will make relevant institutional development promptly.

4. Method for obtaining references

MIC will make them available for viewing and providing copies at MIC’s Information and Communications Bureau (Central Gov’t Building No. 2 10F).
