March 13, 2020 Decision on Granting Subsidies for Subsidized Projects on IoT Testbeds and Reginal Data Centers (Sixth Time)
The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT, headed by Dr. Hideyuki Tokuda, President) has decided on granting subsidies to projects on the service of innovative technology development facilities (used as IoT testbeds) and regional specific telecommunications facilities (used for regional data centers).
1. Project overview
This project subsidizes a part of funds necessary for the implementation of projects for new technology development facilities and region-specific telecommunications facilities. The project aims at the establishment of facilities (testbeds) for the development and demonstration of new telecommunications technologies that contribute to the realization of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the promotion of the regional diversification of facilities (data centers).
2. Status of grant decision
Two applications (an IoT testbed project and a regional data center project) were selected for public grants after the assessment of an evaluation committee composed of external experts. The evaculation committee scrutinized all applications submitted in response to the public appeal for subsidized projects on IoT testbeds and regional data centers (from Thursday, November 7 through Wednesday, December 25).
3. Grant total
Granted amount: 30 million yen
