Integrated promotion based on common reference architecture

The Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), in consideration for the Integrated Innovation Strategy 2019 which was decided by the cabinet in June 2019, has decided to make an appeal for applications for smart city related projects in order to promote smart city related projects around the country in fiscal 2020.

Smart City related projects in fiscal 2020 are the result of the Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) 2nd period/Cyber space Base Technology Utilizing Big Data and AI technologies / Architecture Construction and Empirical Research project determined by the Cabinet Office in fiscal 2019. Relevant ministries and agencies are working as one in reference to the Common Reference Architecture (Note 1) for smart city standard design concepts, and in line with Common Objectives for Government Smart City-Related Projects in 2020 agreed by the Smart City Task Force (Note 2).
In the future, smart city initiatives by both the public and private sectors will be accelerated in collaboration with the Smart City Public-Private Partnership Platform, which consists of a total of 482 organizations, including companies, universities and research institutions, local governments, and related ministries.
