March 26, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Change of Interconnection Tariff Relating to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation
Change of interconnection fees pertaining to network termination devices
On March 19 of this year, the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council received an inquiry from the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications concerning approval (change of interconnection fees pertaining to network termination equipment) for changes to the interconnection tariffs relating to category I designated telecommunications facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has decided to make an appeal for opinions from Friday, March 27, through to Friday, April 24, 2020.
1. Overview
Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation have made an application for approval pertaining to changes in interconnection tariffs for the provision of new network termination equipment which supports 10Gbit/s interfaces, and to extend the acceptance period for C-20 and C50 type termination equipment provided by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation.
2. Procedure of appeal for opinions
1. Subject
Draft revision of the contract for interconnections with Category I designated telecommunications facilities based on Article 33, Paragraph 2 of the Telecommunications Business Act
2. Submission period
From Friday, March 27, until no later than Friday, April 24, 2020 (Submission of opinions by mail must also arrive no later than the deadline date).
3. Future plans
MIC will make a re-appeal for opinions on opinions to be submitted, based on which, the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council will investigate and discuss and report the outcome to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications
