April 10, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Report on Strengthening the Broadcasting Business Base

The Study Subcommittee on Strengthening the Broadcasting Business Base under the Study Group on Various Issues over Broadcasting (Chair: Kazuteru Tagaya, Professor Emeritus at Chiba University) drafted a report on strengthening the broadcasting business base at its 10th meeting.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will make an appeal from Saturday, April 11 through Wednesday, May 13, 2020 on the draft report.

1. Background

To study how to strengthen the management base of local stations and ensure the management governance of broadcasters, MIC has been holding meetings of the Study Subcommittee on Strengthening the Broadcasting Business Base under the Study Group on Various Issues over Broadcasting.
Recently, the Study Subcommittee drafted the report on strengthening the broadcasting business base, and MIC has decided to make an appeal for opinions on the draft.

MIC will post the references on the public comment page of the e-Gov (https://www.e-gov.go.jp/ ).
MIC will also make the references available for viewing and obtaining copies at MIC’s Broadcasting Policy Division, Information and Communications Bureau (the 11th floor of the Second Building of the Central Common Government Office).

4. Future plans

With consideration of opinions submitted, the report will be finalized and opened to the public.
