May 8, 2020 Result of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Guidelines for Privatization of Public Optical Fiber Cables and Related Equipment and Announcement of Finished Guidelines

  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) drafted the Guidelines for the Privatization of Public Optical Fiber Cables and Related Equipment. After this, MIC made an appeal for opinions on the draft from Wednesday, March 4 through Thursday, April 2, 2020. In this regard, MIC would like to take this opportunity to announce the result of the appeal for opinions, along with the finished Guidelines for the Privatization of Public Optical Fiber Cables and Related Equipment.

1. Results of appeal for opinions

MIC drafted the Guidelines for the Privatization of Public Optical Fiber Cables and Related Equipment for the smooth transition of optical fiber cables and related equipment owned by local governments to the private sector. This draft showed the basic concept, how to proceed with consultation, and matters to be noted.
MIC made an appeal for opinions on the draft from Wednesday, March 4 through Thursday, April 2, 2020, and received 22 opinions.

2. Material to be opened to the public

With consideration of the submitted opinions and MIC’s view on the opinions, MIC has finalized and established the Guidelines for the Privatization of Public Optical Fiber Cables and Related Equipment.
