June 2, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Report from Study Subcommittee on Securing Broadcasting in Times of Disaster under the Study Group on Various Issues over Broadcasting
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will make an appeal for opinions from Wednesday, June 3 through Thursday, July 2, 2020, on a draft report from the Study Subcommittee on Securing Broadcasting in Times of Disaster under the Study Group on Various Issues over Broadcasting.
1. Background
MIC organized the Study Subcommittee on Securing Broadcasting in Times of Disaster (chaired by Hitoshi Mitomo Dean and Professor, Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University) under the Study Group on Various Issues over Broadcasting (chaired by Kazuteru Tagaya,Professor Emeritus at Chiba University). Since then, the Study Subcommittee has been researching the securing of broadcasting in times of disaster because considerable damage has occurred in various places due to frequent disasters, including heavy rain and typhoons in recent years.
Recently, the Study Subcommittee has drafted a report, and accordingly, MIC has decided to make an appeal for opinions on the draft report.

From Wednesday, June 3 and no later than Thursday, July 2, 2020
3. Future plans
With consideration of opinions submitted, MIC will finalize and open the report to the public.
