June 12, 2020 Collection of Report from Rakuten Mobile, Inc.

Under the provisions of the Radio Act, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has today demanded that Rakuten Mobile, Inc.(headed by Yoshihisa Yamada, Representative Director and President) report on the handling status of Rakuten Mini, a product that Rakuten Mobile, Inc. as a certified dealer sells by acquiring a Construction Type Certification based on the Radio Act. However, there is a possibility that the product is not in full conformity with the granted Construction Type Certification.

Summary of the case and details of the request

Rakuten Mini is a product that Rakuten Mobile, Inc., a certified dealer, sells by acquiring a Construction Type Certification based on provisions* of the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950). However, there is a possibility that the product was not in full conformity with the granted Construction Type Certification. MIC has today demanded that Rakuten Mobile, Inc. report the handling status of the product under the provisions* of Article 38-29 and Article 38-20, Paragraph 1 of the Radio Act.

MIC will continue making necessary efforts to maintain a favorable environment of radio wave usage.
