June 16, 2020 Establishment of GPAI and Participation

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) have decided to participate in the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI or Gee-Pay), an international initiative established on June 15 to support the responsible and human-centric development and use of AI.

GPAI, an international initiative to support the responsible and human-centric development and use of AI, was established yesterday, (June 15, 2020). MIC and METI have decided to participate in GPAI.
Through this participation, MIC will continue contributing to international discussions toward the implementation of the G20 AI Principles based on the human-centered concept agreed at the G20 Ibaraki-Tsukuba Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy.
