June 16, 2020 Approval for Change of Interconnection Agreements related to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of NTT East and NTT West (Addition of New Category in the Connection Menu for Network Termination Equipment)

Report from Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has today received a report from the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council in response to the MIC’s inquiry No. 3128 of March 19, 2020. The report was issued on the change of interconnection agreements related to the Category I designated telecommunications facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (NTT East and NTT West). This change of the agreements includes a change in the interconnection menu network terminating equipment.
With consideration of the report, the MIC will approve applications from NTT East and NTT West for the revision promptly.

1. Summary of changes

NTT East and NTT West are applying for approval to the change of their interconnection agreements because NTT East and NTT West will provide new network terminating equipment compatible with 10Gbit/s interfaces. Besides, NTT East is applying for an extension of the acceptance period of the C-20 and C-50 network terminating equipment models that NTT East provides.

2. Future plans

With consideration of this report, MIC will promptly approve the change.
