June 22, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Operation Policy of MIC’s Support for Wireless IoT Users’ Certification Tests

  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) recently drafted an operation policy of MIC’s support for wireless IoT users’ certification tests. Accordingly, MIC will make an appeal for opinions on the draft from Wednesday, June 24 through Monday, July 27, 2020.

1. Overview

With an increase in new wireless utilization needs, such as local 5G, an increasing number of new users, including local governments and companies, who have no experience in constructing and operating wireless utilization systems, are more and more likely to be involved in network construction. On the other hand, however, no new users always have the necessary knowledge, including that of rules based on the Radio Act.
To respond to the situation, MIC has drafted an operation policy of MIC’s support for wireless IoT users’ certification tests, as shown in Attachment 1. MIC will sponsor such certification tests conducted by private organizations to recognize wireless IoT users with certain operation knowledge. In this connection, MIC has decided to make this appeal for opinions on the draft.
