June 22, 2020 Unified QR Code, “JPQR” Promotion Project―Start of Online Application Form and Secondary Applications for Support of JPQR Seminars

  The online application form of the Unified QR Code, “JPQR” Promotion Project has come into operation today, which allows the submission of JPQR applications from stores nationwide. In this connection, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has started the acceptance of applications for support of JPQR seminars, for the second time to promote JPQR applications from stores nationwide.

1.Start of operation of the online application form (PLUG)

MIC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), has conducted this demonstration project to promote Unified QR Code and Barcodes (JPQR) which was formulated by Payments Japan Association.
The online application form (PLUG) for JPQR has come into operation today.

2.Application for support of JPQR seminars, for the second time

Consumption activation measures by the Individual Number Card point system start this fiscal year. By promoting JPQR, MIC plans to develop
stores where the Individual Number Card point system is available.
For this reason, MIC offers support (i.e., sending lecturers to briefing seminars, sending staffs for application support, and providing initial setting support) to local governments and commercial and industrial organizations which hold JPQR seminars to promote JPQR applications from stores nationwide. MIC accepted applications from local government and commercial and industrial organizations from February 17 through March 31.
MIC has started accepting applications for support of JPQR seminars, for the second time. MIC is waiting for applications from a wide range of organizations, including local governments and commercial and industrial organizations.
As a result of initial applications, 309 JPQR seminars will be held nationwide.
