June 29, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Report from Study Group on Standard Fees for Establishing Specific Base Stations

  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has been holding a study group on standard fees for establishing specific base stations.  
  The purpose of this study group is to provide a standard estimate of the economic value of frequencies to assist applicants’ prediction and calculation of a reasonable value for the allocation of frequencies (the system of establishment fees for specified base stations). This purpose is based on the economic value of frequencies under the Act for Amending Part of the Radio Act (Act No. 6 of 2019).
  Recently, the study group drafted a report based on the results of the study conducted. Accordingly, MIC will make an appeal for opinions from Tuesday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 29, 2020, on the draft report.

1. Background

MIC has been holding the study group on standard fees for establishing specific base stations. The purpose of this study group is to provide a standard estimate of the economic value of frequencies to assist applicants’ prediction and calculation of a reasonable value for the allocation of frequencies under the system of establishment fees for specified base stations specified by the revised Radio Act. The study group has been discussing the concept of the economic value and evaluation methods of frequencies.
Recently, the study group drafted a report based on the results of the study conducted. Accordingly, MIC has decided to make an appeal for opinions on the draft report.

    Submission deadline: No later than Wednesday, July 29, 2020. (Submission of opinions by mail must also arrive no later than the same day.)

3. Matters to remember

The submitted opinion will be used as a reference for discussion when finishing the report. The content of the opinions will be summarized and announced after the end of the application period. Please note that MIC cannot make individual responses to opinions.
