July 6, 2020 Public Appeal for FY2020 Project on Promoting Advanced Radio Environment Improvements (based on Supplementary Budget)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan (CIAJ) as the executive organization of MIC’s fiscal 2020 project on promoting advanced radio environment improvements have decided to make a public appeal for this project (based on a supplementary budget).

1. Overview

In addition to general support for geographically disadvantaged areas, the project on promoting advanced radio environment improvements exceptionally expands the covering range to other areas. Accordingly, the project will support the development of transmission line facilities of local governments and telecommunications carriers, which serve as a prerequisite for high-speed and large-capacity wireless communications.
The project is divided into direct subsidy project plans that provide direct assistance to prefectures, municipalities, and third-sector corporations, and indirect subsidy project plans that provide indirect assistance to telecommunications carriers through the executive organization.

Start date of public appeal: Monday, July 6, 2020
First deadline: No later than noon on Monday, July 27, 2020
Second deadline: No later than noon on Friday, August 21, 2020
Third deadline: No later than noon on Friday, September 25, 2020
Fourth deadline: No later than noon on Friday, October 23, 2020

3. Method of submitting proposals

Create application documents by the subsidy grant guidelines for the support project of wireless system diffusion costs and the public appeal guidelines for executive organizations for promoting advanced radio environment improvements specified in the following URL, and mail the application documents or email them as specified below.

4. Future schedule (tentative)

A preliminary announcement will be made on selected projects whenever necessary after mid-July 2020.

3. Public appeal for indirect subsidy project plans

With consideration of the performance as an executive body in fiscal 2019 and 2020, the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan (CIAJ) will continue acting as the executive organization of the project under the supplementary budget.
