August 21, 2020 Public Appeal for Candidates for Top Hundred Telework Pioneers

To promote the spread of telework, a flexible way of working by utilizing ICT, and making adequate time and place management, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) collects and award precedents.
MIC has decided to start making a public appeal for this fiscal year’s top hundred telework pioneers.

1. Overview of Top Hundred Telework Pioneers

MIC recognizes enterprises and organizations advancing the introduction and utilization of teleworking as telework pioneers, and it has been selecting and announcing companies with sufficient achievements as the top hundred telework pioneers annually among them since fiscal 2015. In addition to the announcement of the top hundred telework pioneers, MIC established the Awards of the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications in fiscal 2016 to be given to excellent pioneers among the top hundred telework pioneers every year. MIC has decided to start making a public appeal for this fiscal year’s top hundred telework pioneers.

2. Targets

Enterprises and organizations (including private companies, such as joint-stock companies, unlimited partnerships, limited partnerships, limited liability companies), specified non-profit corporations), local governments, including prefectural, municipal, town, village offices, or similar organizations)

3. Application period

From Friday, August 21, and no later than Friday, September 25.

4. Screening

MIC will screen telework pioneers and the top hundred telework pioneers based on the screening criteria. MIC will decide the recipients of the Awards of Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications based on the result of a screening committee of external experts that will nominate companies that have made particularly outstanding efforts from among companies selected as the top hundred telework pioneers.

5. Announcement of screening results

The award recipients will be announced in November 2020.

6. Awards ceremony

The organizations selected for the Awards of the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications the top hundred telework pioneers will be commended at the award ceremony to be held on Monday, November 30, 2020. The award ceremony will be held jointly with the award ceremony for the Shining Telework Awards of the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare.
