August 28, 2020 Hearing for Stakeholders regarding Basic Policy on Facilitating the Use of Telephones for the Hearing Impaired

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) will hold a hearing for stakeholders on Thursday, September 10, 2020, regarding a basic policy on facilitating the use of telephones by the hearing impaired.

1. Purpose

In preparation for the start of a telephone relay service as public infrastructure, MIC and MHLW will hold a hearing for stakeholders regarding a basic policy on facilitating the use of telephones for the hearing impaired as stipulated in Article 7, Paragraph 1 of the Act on Facilitating the Use of Telephones by the Hearing Impaired, etc.

Time and date: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (with a break) on Thursday, September 10, 2020
Place: MHI’s meeting room

3. Future schedule

With consideration of the results of this hearing, MIC and MHLW will draft a basic policy and make an appeal for opinions.
