August 28, 2020 Nomination of Candidate Contractors for Project to Promote Smart Cities of Data Utilization and Application Type under FY2020 Budget
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) recently selected the candidates specified below, who responded to a public appeal for the implementation of a project to promote smart cities of data utilization and application type under its fiscal 2020 budget, with consideration of the results of evaluations made by external experts.
1. Project overview
MIC made this public appeal from Friday, April 17 through Tuesday, June 30, 2020, for project proposals to develop a platform for collecting and analyzing data from multiple fields. MIC expects that the platform will increase the efficiency and sophistication of urban and regional functions and services, improve people’s convenience and comfort in their daily lives, and create towns where people can live in safety and security. The purpose of this project is based on the Basic Act for Promotion of Public-Private Data Utilization (promulgated and enforced on December 14, 2016), the Primary Report of the Smart City Study Working Group (WG) under the Commission on ICT Town Development (established in January 2017), the Second-phase Town, People, Job Creation Comprehensive Strategy (the Cabinet decision of December 20, 2019), and the Common Policy for Government’s Smart City-related Projects of FY2020 (Smart City Task Force Agreement of March 24, 2020) as main factors.
2. Results of selection
With consideration of the results of the public appeal for opinions and the evaluation results of an external evaluation committee, the following seven cases were selected as candidates for adoption. They were selected from the viewpoints of the mayors’ leaderships and implementation of smart cities under the full cooperation of the government.
