September 1, 2020 Result of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Guidelines for Standard Certification of Terminal Equipmentbased on the Telecommunications Business Act (2nd Edition)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) recently drafted a publication entitled Guidelines for Standard Certification of Terminal Equipment based on the Telecommunications Business Act (Second Edition). MIC made an appeal for opinions on the draft from Thursday, July 2 through Friday, July 31, 2020. Accordingly, MIC has decided to open the result of the appeal for opinions and the finalized publication.

1. Overview

MIC published the Guidelines for Standard Certification of Terminal Equipment based on the Telecommunications Business Act (First Edition) on April 22, 2019. This publication was prepared from the viewpoint of clarifying the operation of the standard certification of terminal equipment by the provisions of the Ordinance Concerning Terminal Facilities etc., which has been added with stipulations of security measures for the technical standards of terminal facilities, including IoT devices.
To clarify the concept of the certification of terminal devices used in shared eXtended Global Platform (sXGP) digital cordless telephones, MIC drafted the Guidelines for Standard Certification of Terminal Equipment based on the Telecommunications Business Act (Second Edition). MIC made an appeal for opinions on the draft from Thursday, July 2 through Friday, July 31, 2020. As a result, MIC received one opinion.
