September 4, 2020 Postponing ITU Digital World 2020 while Holding SME Virtual Award Event of ITU Digital World 2020
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has postponed the ITU Digital World 2020 event, which was scheduled in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in September 2012. Aside from that, an on-line Virtual Award event of the ITU Digital World 2020 will be held for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The ITU holds the ITU Digital World (formerly ITU Telecom World) event every year as an opportunity for governments and private companies to exchange opinions and share the latest information. It was scheduled to be held in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam this September. However, the event has been postponed to 2021* due to the global spread of novel coronavirus infections.
There is a possibility that an on-line ITU Digital World event will be held separately from the one held in 2021.
On the other hand, in such a global crisis, the international community positively evaluates the importance of maintaining economic and social activities to the maximum extent while preventing the spread of COVID-19 by utilizing digital technologies, including telework and telemedicine. In light of this, and to support innovative technology solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises that enable them, ITU will hold the on-line SME Virtual Award event of the ITU Digital World 2020, aside from the ITU Digital World event held every year.
Any SME and startup company meeting certain conditions (e.g., the number of employees) can apply regardless of the industry type. Therefore, refer to the application method shown on the ITU’s webpage and make an application.
