January 12, 2021 Signing of Memorandum of Understanding in the Information and Communications Field with the Republic of Chile

TAKEDA Ryota, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding n in information and communications with the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications of the Republic of Chile (hereafter referred to as “Chile”).

1. Background of Signing the Memorandum of Understanding

Japan and Chile have been discussing signing the Memorandum of Understanding (hereafter referred to as the “MoU”) on cooperation in information and communications to expand the cooperation of both countries in the field of information and communications.
The two countries have agreed to cooperate in the areas specified below. Accordingly, TAKEDA Ryota, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, and H.E. Gloria HUTT, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, have signed the MoU.

    ICT infrastructure (including submarine cables)

    ICT application
  • 3.
    Fifth-generation mobile communications system (5G)
  • 4.
    Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting (ISDB-T)
  • 5.
    Smart City

  • 7.
    Cybersecurity

3. Future policy

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will continue strengthening relations with Chile in information and communications based on the MoU.
