January 18, 2021 Approval to JICT’s Decision on Project Support

Indoor carrier-neutral hosting project in the Republic of Indonesia

The Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications has today approved an application of the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (headed by FUKUDA Yoshiyuki President & CEO) for governmental support for an indoor carrier-neutral hosting project in the Republic of Indonesia.

1. Background

The Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (headed by FUKUDA Yoshiyuki President & CEO, hereafter referred to as “JICT”) submitted the application to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications for governmental support for the indoor carrier-neutral hosting project (hereafter referred to as the “project”) in the Republic of Indonesia. This application was filed under the provisions of Article 25, Paragraph 2 of the Act on the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (Act No. 35 of 2015).
In response to the application, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) examined the businesses and contents of the project subject to support according to MIC’s Support Standards for the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (MIC Notice No. 412, 2015). As a result, it has been recognized that the project meets the support standards. Accordingly, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications has today approved the application as requested.

2. Project

The project will provide services by constructing communications network equipment, including antennas, used by multiple carriers on behalf of communications carriers in facilities with high communications traffic needs in the Republic of Indonesia. JICT plans to make a maximum loan of approximately 2.2 billion yen to a special purpose company established with Kyowa Exeo Corporation to participate in the project.
