January 26, 2021 Attention to the Renovation of BS Channel Facilities for the Start of Broadcasting by New Entrants

From February through June 2021, facility renovation involving frequency changes (hereafter referred to as the “facility renovation”) will be conducted on some BS channels toward the start of broadcasting by new entrants. Therefore, on the BS channels where the facility renovation is being repaired, the screen may not be displayed temporarily. Furthermore, the program reserved for the channel may not be recorded. For scheduled recording, carefully check the information published by receiver manufacturers and business associations. If you are using a device that may affect the recording, reset the recording reservation.

  There will be no influence on the viewing or scheduled recording of BS channels and digital terrestrial television broadcasting that are not subject to the facility renovation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) authorized new satellite basic broadcasters in November 2019. In preparation for these new entrants’ start of broadcasting, the facility renovation will be conducted from February 2021 on some BS channels currently broadcasting in the BS right-handed band (the work schedule is shown in the table below).
The screen may not be temporarily displayed for BS channels where facilities will be renovated after the renovation work is conducted. Furthermore, the program reserved for the channel may not be recorded.
Before the equipment renovation shown in the table below, check the information published by TV and recorder manufacturers and the Broadcasting Service Advancement Promotion Association when viewing BS broadcasting. Furthermore, if you are using a model that is expected to be affected, take measures, such as resetting the recording reservation for the receiver.If you have any questions or details, contact the BS Band Reorganization Call Center.

The influence may also occur to those watching BS broadcasting on cable TV. The specific response method is the same as when receiving directly from the antenna, but first, contact your cable TV operator if you have any questions.
