October 12, 2021 Results of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Report of Study Meeting on Ensuring Fair Competition and Release of Finalized Report

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal for opinions from Saturday, March 6 through Monday, April 5, 2021, on a draft report of a Study Meeting on Ensuring Fair Competition (Chief investigator: OHASHI Hiroshi, Professor, Graduate School of Economics, Faculty of Economics, the University of Tokyo).
Based on the results of this appeal for opinions, the study meeting has issued a document entitled “Report of Study Meeting on Ensuring Fair Competition,” and MIC will release the same.

1. Overview

MIC organized the Study Meeting on Ensuring Fair Competition in December 2020 under a Meeting for Telecommunications Market Validation to ensure fair competition in the telecommunications market in light of the progress of competition in the mobile communication field, changes in the relationship between the fixed communications market and the mobile communications market, intensifying global competition, and other changes in the market environment.
Based on the results of the latest discussion and the appeal of opinions, the document entitled “Report of Study Meeting on Ensuring Fair Competition” has been issued, and MIC has decided to open the same together with the results of the appeal for opinions.

2. Results of appeal for opinions

MIC made the appeal for opinions from Saturday, March 6 through Monday, April 5, 2021, on a draft report of the Study Meeting on Ensuring Fair Competition. As a result, 41 opinions were submitted.
