November 12, 2021 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Ministerial Ordinance for Partial Revision of Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act, Notices, and Directive

Institutional development to simplify periodic inspections of advanced land wireless systems

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has drafted ministerial ordinances, notices, etc. to partially revise the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act and pertinent conditions. These drafts are based on a report from a series of study meetings on the ideal state of periodic inspections of advanced land wireless systems. The drafts aim to simplify the periodic inspection of advanced land radio systems to maintain stable electrical characteristics.
Accordingly, MIC will make an appeal for opinions on the proposed revisions from Saturday, November 13 through Monday, December 13, 2021.

1. Background and outline of revisions

As for the ideal state of periodic inspections of advanced land wireless systems, including 5G mobile phone and BWA systems, a report has been issued as a result of a series of study meetings on the ideal state of periodic inspections of advanced land wireless systems. This report has summarized the conditions under which electrical measurement can be omitted, based on a partial report of the Department on Information and Communications Technology under the Information and Communications Council in March 2020.
Based on the report from the study meetings, MIC has drafted ministerial ordinances etc. for the partial amendment of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act and pertinent conditions to establish the conditions and procedures necessary for omitting the measurement of electrical characteristics in periodic inspections of base stations for advanced mobile phones, etc. Accordingly, MIC has decided to make this appeal for opinions on the drafted revisions.
