November 19, 2021 Appeal for Companies to Participate in FY2021 Japan-Saudi Arabia Public-Private Workshop

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of Saudi Arabia, will hold a public-private workshop jointly.
Therefore, MIC has decided to make an appeal for companies to participate in this public-private workshop.

1. Background and purpose

Middle Eastern countries are trying to move away from dependence on oil industry, and new businesses are growing in the ICT/digital sector and other areas in the Middle East.
Bilateral cooperation between Japan and Saudi Arabia has progressed through initiatives, such as the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030, formulated in 2017 as guidelines for strategic partnership. To strengthen further cooperation in ICT field, MIC and MCIT signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) in the field of ICT in June 2019 and are working to strengthen and promote cooperation in the field of ICT.
Furthermore, in 2018, MIC and MCIT jointly dispatched a corporate mission to Saudi Arabia to promote exchanges between Japanese companies and the Saudi Arabian government and Saudi Arabian companies.
In fiscal 2021, MIC and MCIT will jointly hold the Japan-Saudi Arabia Public-Private Workshop. This workshop aims to create and expand business by Japanese companies. It is expected to gather information and build networks regarding investment in Saudi Arabia through information sharing between the public and private sectors in Japan and Saudi Arabia.
