November 26, 2021 Licensing for Entry into Special Mail Business

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) submitted an inquiry to the Information and Communications Administration and Postal System Administration Council (chaired by KAWAHAMA Noboru, Professor, School of Government, Kyoto University) concerning permission for the following applicants: (1) Eleven applicants, including iLink Co., Ltd., for special mail business licenses and correspondence mail management regulations. (2) Two applicants, including Keihin Surprise, K.K., to establish terms and conditions for correspondence mail delivery. (3) Nishitetsu-unyu Co., Ltd. to change its correspondence mail management regulations. A reply was received from the Council stating its approval as inquired.
In response to the report, MIC will arrange to grant permission and approval to the applicants today.

With the permission given to the 11 applicants, including iLink Co., Ltd., the number of special mail business licensees reached 584. Special mail businesses are positioned as businesses that provide diverse services by responding to the sophisticated and diversifying needs of users and making creative efforts. It is expected that these business operators entering the mail service industry will increase users’ selection range of services.
