December 8, 2021 Implementation of solicitation of public comments on Draft Report on the Ideal State of Foreign Investment Restrictions in Information and Communications Field

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will solicit public comments from Thursday, December 9, 2021 through Friday, January 7, 2022 about “Draft Report on the Ideal State of Foreign Investment Restrictions in the Information and Communications Field.” This draft report was prepared by MIC’s Study Group on Foreign Investment Restrictions in the Information and Communications Field (chaired by YAMAMOTO Ryuji, Professor at Graduate Schools, the University of Tokyo).

1. Background

Since June 2021, the Study Group on Foreign Investment Restrictions in the Information and Communications Field has been studying the ideal state of foreign investment control in the information and communications field to ensure the effectiveness and review the ideal state of foreign investment control.
The Study Group has recently prepared the draft report on the ideal state of foreign investment restrictions in the information and communications field. Accordingly, MIC has decided to solicit public comments as specified below.
