December 24, 2021 Public Appeal for FY2022 R&D Themes under SCOPE

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will make a public appeal for new research and development (R&D) themes starting in fiscal 2022 under Strategic Information and Communications R&D Promotion Programme (SCOPE), a project to grant competitive funds for R&D in the field of information and communications technology.

1. Period

From Friday, January 7 to Monday, February 7, 2022 (no later than 5:00 pm).

2. Programs subject to public appeal

The table below shows the programs for which MIC invites public applications for R&D proposals.

3. Application method

  Check the Proposal Guidelines through the corresponding Japanese webpage and create a proposal according to the Proposal Creation Guidelines.
• 2.
  Proposals should be submitted electronically using the Cross-Ministerial Research and Development Management System (e-Rad).

4. Other considerations

MIC has decided to make this public appeal before the fiscal 2022 budget bill passes the Diet so that this program can be started promptly after the budget bill passes the Diet. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the implementation of the program is subject to change according to the passage of the budget bill.
