February 2, 2021 Results of Appeal for Opinions on FY2019 Survey on Utilization of Radio Waves for Mobile Phones and Nationwide BWA, along with Evacuation Results of Survey

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) evaluated a fiscal 2020 survey on the utilization of radio waves for mobile phones and nationwide broadband wireless access (BWA). MIC made an appeal for opinions from Saturday, December 5, 2020, through Friday, January 8, 2021, on a fiscal 2020 draft evaluation result of the utilization of radio waves for mobile phones and nationwide BWA. Considering the result of the opinions received, MIC submitted an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council (Chaired by Susumu Yoshida, Professor Emeritus, Kyoto University) today and received a report from the Radio Regulatory Council stating its approval as inquired.
Accordingly, MIC has decided to announce the result of the opinions and the fiscal 2020 evaluation result of the utilization of radio waves for mobile phones and nationwide BWA.

1. Result of appeal for opinions

MIC made an appeal for opinions from Saturday, December 5, 2019, through Friday, January 8, 2021, on the draft of the fiscal 2020 evaluation result of the utilization of radio waves for mobile phones and nationwide BWA (hereafter referred to as the “evaluation result”) and received six opinions.

2. Report from Radio Regulatory Council and the announcement of the evaluation result

  Considering the opinions received on the evaluation result, MIC submitted an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council today and received a report from the Radio Regulatory Council stating its approval as inquired.

  Under the provisions of Article 26-2, Paragraph 3 of the Radio Act, MIC announces the evaluation result and the outline of the evaluation result.
