February 3, 2021 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Basic Plans for Research and Evaluation Techniques for Radio Wave Safety to be Conducted from FY2021

Before making an appeal for proposals for research and evaluation techniques for radio wave safety to be conducted from fiscal 2021, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) drafted basic plans to implement these researches.
In this connection, MIC will make an appeal for opinions on the drafts from Thursday, February 4 through Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

Background and overview

MIC has been researching the biological effects of radio waves and evaluation techniques for radio wave safety since 1997 to eliminate public concerns about radio waves and build a society where radio waves can be used with peace of mind. When conducting research, MIC carefully examines the content from a technical and economic perspective and conducts external evaluations by a third party to ensure the effectiveness, efficiency, and transparency of the research.
Before making a public appeal for this research proposal, MIC has drafted a basic plan that describes the content of research themes, goals to be achieved, etc. MIC has decided to appeal for opinions on the draft basic plans.
MIC has decided to make this appeal before the fiscal 2021 budget bill passes the Diet so that this program can be started promptly after the budget bill passes the Diet. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the implementation of the program is subject to change according to the passage of the budget bill.
