February 9, 2021 Announcement of Survey on Utilization of VHF Band (207.5 to 222 MHz)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal from Wednesday, December 9, 2020, through Monday, January 18, 2021, for proposals for specific systems planned to use the VHF band (207.5 to 222 MHz) to contribute to a study on the use of VHF band. As a result, three proposals were submitted.

1. Background

Regarding the VHF band (limited to frequencies from 207.5 MHz to 222 MHz and the same shall apply hereafter), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) surveyed specific systems planned to be used in the relevant band. This survey was based on the discussion at the 11th meeting of the Study Subcommittee on Utilization Measures for Broadcast Frequencies.
As a result, three proposals were made, and accordingly, MIC has decided to open the same to the public.

2. Future plans

Considering the contents of the proposals, MIC will study the specific utilization measures for the VHF band.
