April 1, 2021 Decision on Subsidized Entity (Executive Organization) for FY2021 Project on Promoting Advanced Radio Environment Improvements

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has selected the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan (CIAJ) as a subsidized entity (executive organization) for the FY2021 project on promoting advanced radio environment improvements.

1. Overview

The project on promoting advanced radio environment improvements subsidizes a part of the costs of local governments, third-sector corporations, and telecommunications carriers to install optical fibers that are prerequisites for high-speed, large-capacity wireless stations in geographically disadvantaged areas.
The project is divided into direct subsidy project plans that provide direct assistance to prefectures, municipalities, and third-sector corporations, and indirect subsidy project plans that provide indirect assistance to telecommunications carriers through a subsidized entity (executive organization).
MIC made a public appeal for executive organizations of indirect subsidy project plans, in response to which only the CIAJ sent an application.
As a result of MIC’s examination, the CIAJ was found appropriate, and MIC has selected the CIAJ as a subsidized entity (executive organization) for indirect subsidy project plans.

2. Future plans

In the future, the CIAJ will make a public appeal for indirect subsidy project plans. Details will be announced on the CIAJ’s website (https://www.ciaj.or.jp/ Open a new window) as soon as they are ready.
