April 9, 2021 Approval for New Business Operations of Japan Post Bank Co., Ltd.

The Financial Services Agency and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) have today approved the new business operations specified below in response to an application submitted by Japan Post Bank Co. Ltd. earlier. Item 1 was approved with conditions attached, and items 2 and 3 were approved as requested under Article 110, Paragraph 5 and Article 111, Paragraph 5 of the Postal Service Privatization Act (Act No. 97 of 2005).

Outline of business operations approved

  Loan operations for individuals (e.g., the direct handling of Flat 35)
• 2.
  Non-life insurance solicitation
• 3.
  Holding a subsidiary that provides credit guarantee services related to loan operations through overdrafts of Japan Post Bank Co., Ltd.
