April 23, 2021 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver 2.0)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has recently decided to revise “Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver 1.0)”, which was released in October 2020). “Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver 1.0)” summarized security concepts and measures for the construction and operation of smart cities. Accordingly, MIC will make an appeal for opinions on draft Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver 2.0) from Saturday, April 24 through Monday, May 24, 2021.

1. Overview

In October 2020, MIC released “Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver 1.0)”, which summarizes security concepts and measures for the construction and operation of smart cities to promote safe and secure smart cities.
After that, a Study Group on Revision of “Smart City Security Guidelines” further studied the security concepts and measures for the construction and operation of smart cities. Their study aimed at making it easier for entities constructing and operating smart cities to use the guidelines in line with the actual situation of the operation of smart cities.
Considering the study results, MIC has decided to revise “Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver 1.0)” and summarized the proposals in drafted “Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver 2.0)”, consisting of an overview and main body. Accordingly, MIC has decided to make this appeal for opinions from Saturday, April 24 through Monday, May 24, 2021.

No later than Monday, May 24, 2021 (Opinions submitted by postal mail must also arrive no later than the deadline date.)

3. Future plans

With consideration of opinions submitted, MIC will release “Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver 2.0)” by the summer of 2021.
