May 11, 2021 Holding Global Digital Summit 2021

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and Nikkei Inc. will hold Global Digital Summit 2021 on Monday, June 7, and Tuesday, June 8, 2021, under the theme, “Post-New Normal: Towards a Resilient Society.”

1. Overview

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has made significant changes in social and economic mechanisms, including the spread of telework and the expansion of online shopping. At the same time, delays in the digitization of Japan have been pointed out in various fields, such as the fields of administration, healthcare, and education. When people look ahead to the post-new normal era after the end of the COVID-19 calamity, they will be required to build a strong, flexible, and resilient society based on digital technology in all environments, including management, business, workstyle, and social life environments. Furthermore, Beyond 5G is expected to be a future core infrastructure that will support advanced data distribution and utilization of these environments.
MIC and Nikkei Inc. have decided to hold Global Digital Summit 2021 under the theme, “Post-New Normal: Towards a Resilient Society.” It will be an international conference to discuss the direction of society and companies toward the post-new normal era with domestic and foreign policymakers and business owners who are leading digital technology.
