May 21, 2021 Official Announcement of Results of FY2020 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage and Appeal for Opinions on Draft Evaluation Results of FY2020 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) compiled a fiscal 2020 survey on actual radio spectrum usage.
Furthermore, MIC created a draft of the evaluation results of the survey based on the results mentioned above and will make an appeal for opinions on these results from Saturday, May 22, through Monday, June 21, 2021.

1. Purpose of survey and evaluations

MIC has been evaluating the results of actual radio spectrum usage surveyed annually under the provision of Article 26-2 of the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950) since 2003. This survey and evaluation promote measures, including the change of MIC’s frequency assignment plan, to contribute to the effective usage of radio spectra comprehensively and systematically.

1. Subject of survey

Radio stations operated at frequencies up to 714 MHz by the government, local public bodies, or private companies as of April 1, 2020.

Items and method of survey stipulated in Articles 5 and 5-2 of the Ministerial Ordinance concerning Surveys on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage, etc. (Ministerial Ordinance of MIC No. 110 of 2002)

2. Submission deadline

From Saturday, May 22 and no later than Monday, June 21, 2021
(Opinions submitted by postal mail will be accepted if postmarked no later than the deadline date.)

5. Future plans

Considering the results of this appeal for opinions, the MIC will submit an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council concerning the draft evaluation results of the fiscal 2020 actual radio spectrum usage, the response of which the MIC will officially announce at the right time.
