May 26, 2021 Announcement of Basic Concept of Operational Coordination to Beam Wireless Power Transmission Systems and Result of Appeal for Opinions

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) organized a Study Meeting on Operational Coordination to Beam Wireless Power Transmission Systems (chaired by MITANI Masaaki, professor, Tokyo Denki University) in December 2020. Since then, the Study Meeting has been considering the basic concept of beam wireless power transmission systems to build a mechanism for the operational coordination with existing wireless systems.
In this connection, MIC made an appeal for opinions from Wednesday, March 24 through Thursday, April 22, 2021, on a draft basic concept of operational coordination to beam wireless power transmission systems.
With consideration of the results of the appeal for opinions, the draft has been finalized, and MIC has decided to open the same to the public, along with the results of the appeal for opinions.

Background

MIC received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council in July 2020 on technical conditions for beam wireless power transmission systems on the premises as part of technical requirements for beam wireless power transmission systems (Inquiry No. 2043 of December 12, 2018). The partial report pointed out the necessity for considering an operational coordination mechanism to avoid or reduce the impact on existing wireless systems.
Accordingly, MIC organized the Study Meeting on Operational Coordination of Beam Wireless Power Transmission Systems. Then the Study Meeting started considering the basic idea, process, support system, etc. for the operational coordination with existing wireless systems.
In this connection, MIC made an appeal for opinions from Wednesday, March 24 through Thursday, April 22, 2021, on the draft basic concept of operational coordination to beam wireless power transmission systems and received 21 opinions. The draft has been finalized with consideration of the result of the appeal for opinions.
