May 28, 2021 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Change of Interconnection Tariff Relating to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of NTT East and West

Addition of a connection menu, including a menu item related to subscriber optical fiber lines

The Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council received an inquiry from the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications today concerning authorization for a change of the interconnection tariff (i.e., additional connection menu items, including those related to subscriber optical fiber lines). This inquiry is related to category I designated telecommunications facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (hereafter referred to as “NTT East and West”).
In this connection, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has decided to make an appeal for opinions from Saturday, May 29 through Monday, June 28, 2021.

1. Overview

NTT East and West applied for authorization for a change of the interconnection tariff due to the addition of a new connection menu item (i.e., connections of specified optical signal terminal lines) related to subscriber optical fiber lines.

2. Procedure of appeal for opinions

Draft Change of Interconnection Tariff Relating to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities based on Article 33, Paragraph 2 of the Telecommunications Business Act (NTT East and West)

2. Period of submission

From Saturday, May 29 and no later than Monday, June 28, 2021 (Submission of opinions by postal mail must also arrive no later than the deadline date)

3. Future plans

MIC plans to make a re-appeal for opinions after the reception of opinions for this appeal. Then Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council will conduct investigations and deliberations based on the results of the appeal and re-appeal for opinions and make a report to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications.
