May 31, 2021 Implementation of FY2021 Awareness-raising and Enlightenment Period for Protection of Environment of Radio Wave Utilization

Observe the radio wave rules!

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will implement an awareness-raising and enlightenment campaign for the protection of the environment of radio wave utilization in an intensive and concentrated manner from Tuesday, June 1* through Thursday, June 10, 2021, under the catchphrase, “Observe the radio wave rules!”.
MIC will promote the development of an ideal radio wave environment, setting up June for a period for strengthening a crackdown on unlicensed and illegal radio stations.

    June 1 is Radio Wave Day. Radio Wave Day was established in 1950 to commemorate the liberalization of radio wave use from being a government-exclusive tool to one that could be used by all citizens under the enactment of the Radio Act, the Broadcast Act, and the Act for Establishment of the Radio Regulatory Commission.

    Joint crackdown with investigative agencies
  2. 2.
    Strengthening the radio monitoring system to grasp the emergence of unlicensed and illegal radio stations
  3. 3.
    Guidance for optimizing the operation method of radio stations and eliminating and pressing charges against illegal radio stations by regulatory radio stations
    The Regional Bureau of Telecommunications etc. in each area will determine the implementation content with consideration of the local situation.
