On May 27, 2021, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) signed a memorandum of cooperation on solid-state weather radar demonstration experiments with the Malaysian Meteorological Department under the Ministry of Environment and Water (MEWA) of Malaysia.
1. Background of MoC
Japan and Malaysia have been in discussions on cooperation in solid-state weather radar demonstration experiments.
The two countries recently reached an agreement on the content of the cooperation and agreed to proceed with the cooperation in the demonstration experiments. Accordingly, Mr. SUZUKI Shinya, Director General of the Radio Department under MIC’s Telecommunications Bureau, and Mr. Jailan bin Simon, Director General of the Malaysian Meteorological Department under MEWA, signed the MoC online on May 27, 2021, in the presence of Dr. Zaini Ujan, Secretary-General of MEWA and Mr. OKA Hiroshi, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia.
2. Outline of MoC
