June 17, 2021 Result of Public Appeal for Proposals on R&D for Radio Wave Resource Expansion for FY2021

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made a public appeal from Tuesday, March 16 through Monday, April 19, 2021, for proposals on research and development (R&D) for radio wave resource expansion to be conducted from fiscal 2021. In addition, MIC conducted an external evaluation of the proposals submitted and adopted 14 proposals based on the results of the external evaluation.

1. Overview

MIC is conducting R&D for expanding radio wave resources to reduce the tightness of frequencies and effectively use radio waves to respond to the expanding needs of radio waves.
In this connection, MIC made the public appeal from Tuesday, March 16 through Monday, April 19, 2021, for proposals on R&D for radio wave resource expansion to be conducted from fiscal 2021. In response, there were 27 applications from research institutes, including private businesses, for six R&D projects.

2. Results of adoption

MIC adopted the proposals considering the screening results of a meeting on evaluations of R&D by radio wave usage fees.
