June 18, 2021 Public Appeal for Proposals for FY2021 Projects related to Smart Cities

Smart City Promotion Projects including Those of Data Linkage Promotion Type

As part of efforts towards the systematic implementation of smart cities nationwide, the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will collaborate to make a public appeal for fiscal 2021 projects related to smart cities from today through July 19, 2021.

The projects related to fiscal 2021 smart cities will refer to the Common Reference Architecture, a standard design concept for smart cities. This concept is an outcome of the Cabinet Office’s fiscal 2019 project (Cross-Ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) Phase 2: Big Data and AI-Enabled Cyberspace Technologies/Architecture Construction and Empirical Research). At the same time, under the agreement of the Smart City Task Force*, a Joint Screening Committee for Projects related to Smart Cities will be established. Furthermore, the relevant ministries will work together to make the public appeal for proposals, adopt feasible proposals, and implement them.

    Established under the Innovation Policy Enhancement Promotion Team in February 2019, based on a decision to establish the Innovation Policy Enhancement Promotion Team (made by the Integrated Innovation Strategy Promotion Council on July 27, 2018). This team is composed of director-level officials from related ministries.

2. Period of public appeal

From Friday, June 18, 2021, and no later than 3:00 pm on Monday, July 19, 2021

3. Selection of project proposals

Proposals will be selected on a project-by-project basis according to the evaluation of a joint screening meeting for projects related to smart cities.
