June 30, 2021 Result of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Smart City Security Guidelines (Edition 2.0) and Release of Finished Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver. 2.0)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal for a wide range of opinions on a draft of Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver. 2.0) from Saturday, April 24 through Monday, May 24, 2021.
As a result of the appeal, 13 opinions were submitted, and MIC has decided to open the submitted opinions to the public, along with MIC’s views on the opinions and the finished version of Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver. 2.0).

Overview

In October 2020, MIC released Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver. 1.0), which summarized security concepts and measures for the construction and operation of smart cities for ensuring safe and secure smart cities.
After that, the Study Group on Revision of Smart City Security Guidelines under MIC further studied the security concepts and measures for the construction and operation of smart cities. Their study aimed at making it easier for entities constructing and operating smart cities to use the guidelines in line with the actual situation of the operation of smart cities.
Considering the study results, MIC has decided to revise Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver. 1.0) and summarized the proposals in drafted Smart City Security Guidelines (Ver. 2.0).
Accordingly, MIC has decided to make this appeal for opinions on the draft revision of the Guidelines from Saturday, April 24 through Monday, May 24, 2021. As a result, 13 opinions were submitted. Accordingly, MIC has decided to open the submitted opinions and MIC’s views on the opinions to the public.
